First International Long Covid and ME/CFS Conference, #UniteToFight2024, Gathers Momentum with Over 3,000 Registrations Worldwide in two weeks

Hamburg, Germany – April 14, 2024 – The inaugural #UniteToFight2024 conference, the first international, community-driven event focusing on Long Covid and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), is poised to make a significant impact with its groundbreaking approach and distinguished lineup of speakers.

Organized by individuals directly affected by these debilitating conditions, #UniteToFight2024 goes beyond a typical conference, creating a digital space for stakeholders to address neglected conditions like Long COVID and ME/CFS. By highlighting these often-misunderstood diseases in an engaging way, the platform aims to grab society’s attention and drive collective action.

„Our mission is to build unity and encourage collaboration, advancing understanding and support both in the scientific realm and across the broader community, moving these important discussions from the margins to the mainstream,“ said Marco Wetzel, Press Officer of UniteToFight.

Scheduled for May 15th and 16th, from 9:00 am to 7:15 pm CEST, the conference boasts an impressive lineup of speakers, including renowned figures such as Akiko Iwasaki, Ron Davis, David Putrino, Carmen Scheibenbogen, Danny Altmann, Resia Pretorius and other experts from the United States, Europe and New Zealand. These esteemed speakers will share their insights, latest research findings, and strategies for tackling the challenges posed by Long Covid and ME/CFS. Additionally, community contributions will have a stage to emphasize the importance of amplifying the voices of those affected and engaged, underscoring UniteToFight’s inclusive approach.

In just two weeks since registration opened, the conference has already garnered overwhelming interest, with more than 3,000 registrations from individuals across the globe. The diverse audience will include patients, caregivers, researchers, clinicians, politicians, and journalists, reflecting the broad impact and importance of this event.

Highlighting the significance of the conference, the opening ceremony will feature a prerecorded video message from Mr. Lauterbach, the German Federal Minister of Health. His participation underscores the growing recognition of Long Covid and ME/CFS as pressing public health issues requiring concerted action at the highest levels.

„We are thrilled to see such tremendous support and enthusiasm for #UniteToFight2024,“ said Marco Wetzel, Press Officer of UniteToFight. „This conference represents a unique opportunity for collaboration, learning, and advocacy in the fight against Long Covid and ME/CFS. Together, we can drive meaningful progress.“
